One moment. One breathe. Take all of Jesus for today.
Are natural inclination is to jump ahead. How will I make it this week, this month, this year? In the meantime we neglect today. We must receive all of what Jesus offer us hour upon hour. When the sun rises over the hill and his mercies rain down new every morning, you take all of it just for today. Just as bread (manna) rained down every morning from heaven for the Israelites, so Jesus rains down every morning for us. And as he commanded the Israelites to only take enough bread for the day, we take ALL of Jesus for today.
Exodus 16: 4 Then the Lord said to Moses, “I will rain down bread from heaven for you. The people are to go out each day and gather enough for that day.
John 6: 32 Jesus said to them, “Very truly I tell you, it is not Moses who has given you the bread from heaven, but it is my Father who gives you the true bread from heaven. 33 For the bread of God is the bread that comes down from heaven and gives life to the world.”
35 Then Jesus declared, “I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never go hungry, and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty.”
Matthew 4:4 Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.’[b]”
