This week I touched on Bob Goff and Love Does. This summer I heard a podcast where Bob encourages quitting. Every Thursday Bob quits something…not always bad things, for no other reason than it’s Thursday. When we quit we create margin, we get out of our comfortable ruts, and we open up space for new opportunities. Since the moment I heard Bob speak on quitting on Thursday it’s stuck with me yet I did nothing with it. Every Thursday Bob tweets a Thursday quitting tweet and every Thursday my friend texts my husband and I and asks what we are quitting today. Over and over I didn’t know what to quit. For months I couldn’t think of anything to quit.

 I heard Bob speak this weekend and he mentioned quitting on Thursday again. When he spoke this time I knew what I was quitting today, Thursday.

Here it is, Thursday! Today I am quitting a portion of my photography business. It’s time to walk away from something I’ve loved and cherished to allow space and margin to walk through new doors and opportunities. I am choosing to let go for a season and “quit” senior and family photography to work on some new personal projects I am passionately pursuing.

Sometimes we have to give up perfectly good things to get to even better places. It’s about taking a risk, a leap of faith and trusting God with the rest.

What does this mean practically?

*As of January 2013 I am solely an engagement and wedding photographer. I will only be accepting and working with brides and grooms at this time.

*My blog will be receiving a facelift and new name in 2013 as a place to share my personal writings and stories.

* Updated logo and branding will be released in January 2013
