Resting.

Monday blues found me before the day even crossed the start line and I was ready to just sit at the finish line this morning and call it good. Fighting through my sluggish haze I awoke to have a conversation with Jesus because discouragement was burrowing deep into my soul fighting to take captive and defeat my day, my week.

Exchanging lines to the King of Kings, my prayer of word spew looked something like this….. “I just want to worry, be fearful, have control, try this, work harder at…do this.. blah blah… I want to fix this! I don’t like these circumstances….”

Through our conversation I came to see that today I need to simply rest. That’s it Lord? All I need to do is REST?

Yes.

Don’t do anything.

Rest in who I AM

Do not fix anything

Rest in your maker, the author and perfecter of your faith.

Do not try harder

Rest in what I have already accomplished.

Do not rush around

Rest in my peace

Do not worry

Rest your mind on things above, not on earthly things.

Do not fear the future

Rest in my victory today for the best is yet to come.

Do not live in slavery of self-reliance.

Rest in my freedom

Rest under the shadows of my wings.

Defeat may pound at my door waiting to pounce on my heart but victory is mine today if I choose to let go of control and fear and simply rest. That simple? Yes, rest in his power, his love, his accomplishments FOR us. All I need for today I already have been given because of the finished work of Christ on the cross, therefore I can rest in Him. Victory is mine today if I try less and rest more.

Resting in Him is true liberating freedom.

One moment at a time I can do this Lord. Not day by day, hour by hour.

Christ in me, the hope of glory.
