Back to School with Essential Oils Day 2 – Anxiety

When we inhale a distinct aroma, the scent is processed through the brain’s olfactory system, the sensory system responsible for controlling our sense of smell. The olfactory system is connected to the limbic system, an area of the brain where memories and emotions are stored. At this point, the limbic system produces a distinct response to the aroma based on memories that are associated with the particular smell—creating a rush of feelings that follow. Essential oils can produce responses that can be used to enhance well-being and manage emotions, like stress and anxiety.

Transition Blend

For kiddos nervous or stressed about starting school, help them transition to the first week of school by trying this rollerball on their feet and down spine.

In a 10ml Roller ball:
2-3 drops Balance
2-3 drops Vetiver
Fill the remainder with fractionated coconut oil
Apply night before and the morning of School

One of my favorite essential oils to help with anxious feelings is  Balance.

Balance-
promotes a grounded state of mind and balances emotions, calms nerves
The topical application of Balance essential oil blend will help ease anxious feelings when they arise.

To use Aromatically: Diffuse a few drops of Balance + Wild Orange or Serenity to experience the aromatic benefits

With essential oils, there are many different oils and blends to try and see what would work best. Here is just one idea of a rollerball peace and calm Rollerball for kids. Follow correct dilution ratio for your child’s age.

If making Rollerballs seems too much for you, I highly recommend the Touch Line. The Touch Line oils are pre-diluted rollerballs that ensures the proper dose of these precious oil without over-dispensing due to its steel ball roll-on applicator.

4 oils I recommend  to help combat anxious feelings heading back to school are Lavender, Cheer, Peace, Frankincense, & DigestZen

Lavender– all things calming

  • Apply to the temples or back of the neck for a relaxing, calming effect.

Cheer  This convenient and gentle roll-on can be applied to the skin to counteract negative emotions and provide a boost of happiness and positivity when one is feeling down.

  • Promotes feelings of optimism, cheerfulness, and happiness
  • Counteracts negative emotions of feeling down, blue, or low

Peace– Use the doTERRA Peace Touch Blend to promote feelings of contentment, composure, and reassurance when anxious feelings overwhelm your kiddos.

  • Counteracts anxious and fearful emotions
  • To calm an upset or restless child, apply to bottoms of feet.

Frankincense  Frankincense Touch is the must-have oil blend to have on hand to provide a calming, balancing effect on emotions throughout the day.

  • Promotes feelings of relaxation

DigestZen– Anxiety or stress may cause tummy troubles, swipe around the tummy once to ease stomach discomfort.

Vetiver– Vetiver essential oil is rich in sesquiterpenes, which contain grounding properties. When used on the skin or inhaled, Vetiver essential oil can help provide a calming and grounding effect on emotions. After a difficult day at school, help your child relax by applying Vetiver oil to your child’s neck and feet. This will help promote calm and grounded feelings.

Diffusing

Diffuse Oils when kiddos arrive home from school to create a relaxing and welcoming environment. Here is a diffuser blend to help the whole family take a deep breath.
