12 simple ways I use oils in my home

Often people approach me the saying, I can’t think what in the world I would use oils for in my life…. and that’s okay. I get it…. even my mom said this to me 🙂 I am here to encourage you today, all it takes is a desire to live healthier, remove toxins, and be open your life to a new way of approaching your health. It’s all about starting with with simple small steps as your incorporate them into your home easily.

I wanted to give you a small glimpse into my life and share 12ways I use routinely use oils in my home. Hopefully to inspire and encourage you that you can easily swap out toxins and OTC drugs that cause side effects with simple natural solutions.

1. Energy – First thing I do when I hop out of bed to head to my Barre class is rub some Peppermint and Wild Orange on the back to wake me up.

2. Sore Muscles – For our sore muscles and joint pain from working out or carrying twins around all day, we use Deep Blue Rub (a natural icy hot) and some other essential oils such as: Lemongrass, Marjoram, and Aromatouch for relief.

3. Immunity– Especially in the winter months, I am diffusing OnGuard essential oil. When threats are high we are wearing essential oils, like OnGuard, Oregano, Frankincense, and Melaleuca on the back of our spine to keep us healthy.

4. Mood – Often I joke I use essential oils for 80% emotional support 🙂  In the morning I place Balance essential oil on my wrists to keep calm and grounded. I then use other essential oils throughout the day to help uplift my mood or calm me down if I am feeling anxious.  My personal favorites: Cheer, Elevation, Frankincense, Vetiver, Copaiba.

Because of the complexities of the human brain, certain aromas can elicit emotions by triggering memories and stimulating emotional responses….When we inhale a distinct aroma, the scent is processed through the brain’s olfactory system, the sensory system responsible for controlling our sense of smell. The olfactory system is connected to the limbic system, an area of the brain where memories and emotions are stored. At this point, the limbic system produces a distinct response to the aroma based on memories that are associated with the particular smell—creating a rush of feelings that follow. Essential oils can produce responses that can be used to enhance well-being and manage emotions.

5. Vitality This may be #5 on the list, but this is #1 in our home! I hate taking pills… BUT the Life Long Vitality Supplements are game-changer to our emotional and physical health. Due to auto-immune health issues in our home, these are the they key to a foundation of a healthy life. Implementing these into your daily routine to essential oils has greatly impacted both my husband and I’s health…. especially emotional/mood for me. 🙂

6. Addressing daily specific health needs for that day: Whatever the needs are for that day, I have my oils out and on hand to help: Ex: Heart palpitations, Sinus congestion, rashes, head tension, seasonal threats, etc.

7. Cleaning –  Swapping out toxic store bought (and spendy) cleaning supplies with your essential oils is cost effective, easy, fun… well I think it is fun 🙂 I love combining and making my own supplies. I bought 4 glass bottles and just fill them up every time they run out. But doTERRA now offers these beautiful continuous mist sprayers… yay!

8. Cooking – Lime, Lemon, Oregano, Basil, Rosemary, Peppermint are some of my favorite oils to have in my kitchen to cook with. We love to whip up Cilantro Lime Rice and Peppermint Brownies often 🙂

9. Digestion – When all those tummy issues arise DigestZen is my go-to oil. For bloating, gas, indigestion, or ANY tummy problem we love applying DigestZen to the stomach for relief.

10. Skin – My skin has greatly benefited from essential oils. Right before bed, I remove my makeup and rub my favorite oils on my face. It’s pre-made in a dropper bottle with Rosehip oil and has Frankincense, Copiaba, Blue Tansy, and Sandalwood. In the mornings I use a drop of Geranium or ylang ylang in my doterra moisturizer.

I also have an Owie Spray made up that gets used on my little girls cuts and scraps for quick relief.

11. Sleep – Right before bed, my husband and I give the girls little back massages with coconut oil and lavender. This has become such a sweet part of our nighttime routine as it helps calm them down and allows us to connect with them. They love their massage routine 🙂

We get oils running in our diffuser in our room along with the twins room that runs through the night.

I personally have a sleep rollerball with oils that I rub on my wrists and neck to help me sleep deeper and through the night. Oils have been a GAME-CHANGER to how I sleep!

12. Laundry – Using essential oils for laundry is refreshing and SO much healthier. We use dryer Balls and select the essential oils we want and put them on the wool dryer ball. Our clothes come out smelling so fresh. Siberian Fir, Lavender, and Citrus Bliss are a few of my favorites. And for all those stains on clothes I use On Guard cleaner concentrate to remove those stubborn stains. 🙂
