Winter Wellness Tips

Staying healthy with little ones is always a challenge in the winter months. This is our families top tips we use in our home to stay healthy naturally. I have incorporated these into our daily routine once cold and flu season hits and found to really see the benefits.


Elderberry Syrup

We love Elderberry Syrup, some years I make our own, sometimes I buy locally, and sometimes in a pinch I buy over the counter. Our family LOVES taking elderberry syrup. It’s a must have in your home for the winter months because it’s powerful at keeping you healthy and cutting down duration of illnesses.

a study published in the Journal of International Medical Research showed that when the extract is used within the first 48 hours of the onset of flu symptoms, it shortens the duration of flu symptoms by an average of four days. (6)

Colloidal Silver

This a recent addition to our home in the last few years but I’ve seen the impacts of adding it into your home. We don’t use this daily, only when we feel sickness coming on or when we are currently fighting one. Colloidal Silver is antibacterial, antiviral and antimicrobial. You can read more here.

Activated Charcoal

Activated Charcoal goes everywhere with us. We take this anytime we eat out, travel, or are exposed to the stomach bug. For kids I pop open a capsule and poor half in some coconut water and let my kids drink it. * Be warned it’s black and will stain! 🙂 *

Activated Charcoal is a binder. It soaks up toxins and unwanted guests in your system… if you want to keep the stomach bug away this is a must!

Activated Charcoal needs to be taken with lots of water and 2-3 hours within pills or vitamins. (read more here)

For our girls they daily get Omega’s and Vitamins. doTERRA IQ Mega takes the fishy taste out of fish oil and puts the fresh orange flavor of doTERRA Wild Orange essential oil, providing 1,300 mg of concentrated, omega-3 fatty acids per serving.
