Muddy Faith

You would think I would clearly have imprinted in my heart that life does NOT ever go as planned. But no, I am being reminded again that the journey of following God is filled with rocky places and uncharted waters.

And it is in these uncharted waters of refiners fire we find our real faith again.

The faith that is muddy, murky and full of the peace of God.

It is here, in the place of confusion HE reminds me,

faith is scary, confusing, bumpy and sometimes sorrowful.

But it is also full of abundant hope, grace and peace.

this is the tension in following God.

Joy and discouragement
Peace and doubts
Delight and anger
Hope and depression

I think of 2 Corinthians 4:14-18,

“So we’re not giving up. How could we! Even though on the outside it often looks like things are falling apart on us, on the inside, where God is making new life, not a day goes by without his unfolding grace. These hard times are small potatoes compared to the coming good times, the lavish celebration prepared for us. There’s far more here than meets the eye. The things we see now are here today, gone tomorrow. But the things we can’t see now will last forever.”

And so each morning I awake with a thankful heart choosing to see his daily graces,

Birds chirping melodies in the wee morning hours delighting my ear with joyful sounds

Rushing rivers roaring through the city reminding me how small I am and how mightyGod is.

The sun fading behind the horizon painting strokes of radiant colors across the skies declaring God’s glory.

In Jesus is victory. That is what I rest my hope in. When I am feeling defeated or confused I rest in his peace and declare the truth. He is victorious.

Oh our God is victorious and in Jesus so are we.

He kept right on going because he kept his eyes on the one who is invisible. (Heb 11:27)
